'Underground Map of London' Station Map - 1932

Designed by GW Bacon & Co, Printed J Weiner Lithographers Ltd for Underground Group. Quad Royal size 127cm x 101cm. Colour lithograph on paper. Linen-backed. Condition: Very good restored condition. Some loss to two corners that have been professionally reinstated. An even hue of age-related  browning.

Unlike the full network maps on display at the time (designed by Fred Stingemore) this GW Bacon map is focused on London's central area with an exceptional level of background detail with the Underground lines overlaid in their respective colours. The station names are also in their respective line's colours and set in their own mini  roundel icon. It is likely this map was displayed alongside the full network map.

This map was issued in 1932 and 1934. This is the first issue with the extension of the Piccadilly line to Cockfosters shown as in construction.
