The 1979 Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships took place from 25 June to 7 July; Bjorn Borg successfully defended his Men’s singles crown by beating the American Roscoe Tanner. Martina Navratilova overcame Chris Evert in a repeat of the 1978 ladies final.

Founded in 1877, Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is held on outdoor grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club AELTC in Wimbledon London.
