Original C. 1930s Destination Board for a Bakerloo Line train

Wooden panel painted black with ‘Bakerloo Line’ adhesive sticker. Measures 62cm x 10cm. Handpainted rolling stock number of the verso ‘11156’. Great condition. Small loss to top right corner.

This destination board was displayed at the front of a London underground train on the Bakerloo line, possibly for over 55 years. Remarkably the rolling stock number is still present on the back ‘11156’. This was a 1938 stock cab which was in service until 1983.

Whilst the board itself might date to 1938, the sticker bearing ‘Bakerloo Line’ is more likely to be 1950s-1960s.This sticker is covering another sticker beneath - so unless we remove them we may never know what they are covering up!

Whilst metal destination plates are fairly common, it is unusual to come across one made of wood.
