This stunning 3D cutaway illustration shows Bond Street London Underground station, as soon to be redeveloped for the new ‘Fleet Line’. The ‘Fleet Line’. was later renamed the Jubliee Line as it was opened in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee year of 1977.
E Barker, whom I can find almost no information on, designed posters for the London Underground 1965-1979. All of Barker’s posters were of this three-dimensional cut-away format, each showing a new station or redevelopment. They enable the viewer to easily understand the layout of the ticket hall, escalators, walkways, platforms and how other lines interchange - whilst also showcasing the extraodinary feat of engineering such a development is.
Barker’s first posters in this style were for the Victoria Line, we have a series of 3 of these posters also for sale.
In late 2022, Bond Street will see its Elizabeth Line station open.
