"Metropolitan Railway Map Of London"

Undated Circa 1931. Paper folding pocket map. Published by Metropolitan Railway Company. Printed by Knapp Drewitt & Sons. Print Code M1090/100M. Measures 34cm x 41.5cm. Condition: excellent, almost perfect.

This edition shows the Stanmore Extension as under construction which opened in late 1932.

Despite an agreement between the various London Underground Railway companies to coordinate under a single "Underground" brand and common map, the Metropolitan Railway continued to publish special issues of their own map. Between 1920-1933, this series of maps were published with promotional books for "Metro-land", the Met Railway's suburban residential developments along its line. Each had a distinctive cover colour and unique print code.

Whilst there is little mention of the other Underground Railways lines, the majority of the network is shown in relation to the Metropolitan Railway.
