Orignal ink sketch of Raphael, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle by Kevin Eastman. Drawn on the rear of a IDW comic cover (removed) at the San Diego Comic Con 2012. Framed measurements 29cm x 24.5cm x 1.5cm.

Illustrator, Kevin Eastman co-created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turltles in 1983, alongside writer Peter Laird. Originally as a parody of comic books of the day, the first comic was self-published in May 1983. It was in 1986 that TMNT started to go mainstream, first with toys with a storyline printed on the packaging and then in 1987 a miniseries aired to promote the toys that went global. By the late 1980s the TMNT could be seen everywhere from TV and toys to lunchboxes and clothing. Eastman and Laird continued to write comics and graphic novels until the early 90s when they parted company citing creative differences. The TMNT have remained hugely popular with young (and not so young) audiences due to continuous reimagination.
