This is the first edition of the updated ‘Miniature Map’ series which sees “& Environs” added to the title. Indeed the map itself covers a broader region, showing more to the west side of London where the DR expanded so rapidly over the latter part of the 19th century.

This edition can be dated to 1896;. It features and over print the Empire of India and Ceylon Exhibition at Earl’s Court (1896). The map on the back shows the District Railway Country Diagram. The planned extension to South Harrow is shown for the first time (open in 1903).
