Earliest known pocket-sized map published by the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR - later known as simply the ‘District Railway’). This two-colour map paper format would be used by the DR right up until 1927.

The proposed Inner Circle Completion Line is shown in Blue (financial difficulties saw this line take 8 years to open). The District Railway terminates at Hammersmith with an extension towards Shaftesbury Road shown in dashed line (opened 1877).Also shown as authorised is the Metropolitan & South Western Railway which never proceeded.
